Would like to build a fire pit in my backyard out of cinderblocks

I'm building a new house and I'd like to add a stylish fire pit on the nice stamped concrete patio. However, I looked at one that said you can NOT cook food over it. I'd like to find something that looks cool, would be great for conversing over a nice fire, but could also be used for roasting marshmallows, etc... To the first couple responses - are you sure you can cook over these?!?!

I have a fire bowl inside of a table and I would like to roast marshmellows for my kids tonight what kind of wood should I use? I don't want a bunch of smoke around the kids. Any ideas??????

You know those fire pits that you buy from walmart, that are basically grills just a little bigger so you can light wood? Well,i want to use one. At night obviously. I want to use it on public property, not private property, but this public property is in a rsidential area. There will only be three of us, no alcohol, no loud music. so we wont be disturbing the peace. My question is, IF the people in my neighborhood call the police (which they are known to do), do I legally have to put out my GRILL and leave? i live in florida. i really dont think im outside of my rights because im not lighting the actual earth on fire. it's basically like using a grill, which is legal. i basically know that if i had the "bonfire" during the day, the people wouldnt care, but its a neighborhood of predominantly old people so i have this idea that someone will call the police and not mind their own business. I just want to know what to say to the cop if/when they do come. yea it sounds completely legal to me too, but i want to know what to expect. this neighborhood calls cops for kids running through your yard to get a ball they dropped. they are a bunch of stuck up buttholes. its not a gated community, and there isn't a home owners association.

I went to one a long time ago with a few friends. A week or two later, I asked them how to get there but they said they didn't know and the only person who knew, forgot. I just remember the one that I went to was near a bridge and it seemed like a parkish area, with water underneath the bridge in front of the amphitheater and fire pit.... Or any other beautiful places with fire pits not so commonly known?

Information regarding those store bought fire pits/bowls run by propane. How long do they burn? Cost of running for about 5 hours. Any suggestions of which work best? Last longer? I am looking at the ones that look like they have a stone foundation or larger burn area more than the small ones that would go on a patio.

We have a small metal backyard fire pit (the kind you buy at the local target or lowes store). I am trying to find out if it is legal to use in Philadelphia (for burning fire wood of course) and what the city rules and regulations on this might be. i have done this before at other beaches, but I was wondering if there are any beaches in NJ that actually allow you to have a fire pit on the beach say from 11pm-1am. I would love to find a beach that actually allows this. Also, is there any beaches that allow alcoholic beverages on the beach. Obviously, I know you can just sneak them on but I like i said before i would love to find a beach where this is allowed. Thanks in advance!

Getting fire pit table. Is it possible to add fire glass and then stick in gel burners? That way avoiding the hassle of lighting 'real' fire AND/OR the hassle of extinguishing duraflame log. I really want to purchase one of those fire tables, you know the ones that are a propane firepit with a table that surrounds it? It can have chairs that match but I am fine getting a set of chairs separately as well. I live in Victoria so close to there would be great!
